EDITOR’S LETTER
e Canadians don’t give ourselves enough credit.
Admirable traits, such as modesty and collabora-
tion seem to run deeper here above the 49th par-
W allel these days. Yet, our collective, self-effacing
nature plays a key factor in the incredible pace of innovation oc-
curring within Canada’s business community as we near the end of
2020, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Look no further than Quebec-based L. Nardella Associates’ highly
successful approach to large-scale construction project manage-
ment, built on collaboration (pg.16). The same can be said about
Oakville-Trafalgar’s (Ontario) new cleaner, greener community cen-
tre: a joint effort where city officials and construction departments
successfully teamed up with private architects, engineers and gen-
eral contractors to create this beautiful community-gathering space
(pg.26). Then there’s the herculean completion of Calgary’s Crow-
child Trail Upgrades Project, where a rare, wide-spread alliance of
city officials, citizens made all the difference.
Here’s to Canadian innovation in the face of adversity.
