EDITOR’S LETTER

f the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed anything about Canadian business-
es, it’s their innovation and adaptability. Some companies and organizations

quickly pivoted to online operations in the face of shutdowns and quarantines.

I Essential businesses put measures in place to protect themselves, those they

work with, and the people they work for. The point is, they didn’t just stop.

Sprung Structures in the Calgary area certainly didn’t. The structure fabricator,

which we’ve profiled in this issue, responded to the nationwide call for temporary

medical spaces in case medical facilities ran out room in which to assess and treat

                 COVID-19 patients.

We’ve also profiled Canada’s largest clean-energy project, the refurbishment of

Ontario Power Generation’s Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, and the con-

struction of the multipurpose and multigenerational UNIplex facility in Dieppe,

New Brunswick. Both projects have remained on schedule and on budget despite

the pandemic, and their project teams have been monitoring the stage of the crisis

closely, so they can make any adjustments accordingly.

It’s been said that times of crisis breed innovation, and innovation and adaptability

go hand-in-hand. In these pages, we hope you enjoy learning about the compa-

nies and organizations that have embraced these traits as they forge ahead during

this unprecedented time in our history.
