Bruce Power investing $1

ruce Power, home to the world’s
largest operating nuclear generat-
ing facility, is investing $13 billion
to overhaul six of its eight reactors located
on Lake Huron in Ontario, the company
announced in December.
Set to begin in 2020, the multi-year invest-
ment program is expected to create 1,500
to 2,500 on-site jobs annually and a total of
18,000 jobs across Ontario, either directly
or indirectly. The project is estimated to in-
ject up to $4 billion annually into the prov-
ince’s economy.
Bruce Power is on track to produce more
than 30 per cent of Ontario’s power at 30
per cent below the residential price of elec-
tricity. The refurbishment project — a long-
term agreement between Bruce Power
and the Independent Electricity System
Operators (IESO) — will ensure the site’s
future until 2064.
The company celebrated a stellar year in
