Established in 1971 as World Investigation Service by Stanley J. Kernaghan, the company initially ventured into security services in 1974, catalyzed by a significant contract with Cassiar Asbestos. This marked the beginning of a transformation that saw Securiguard grow from a small investigation firm into one of Canada’s leading private security providers. “Our journey over the past five decades has been nothing short of remarkable,” says Lorna Clamp, President of Securiguard Services Ltd. “From our humble beginnings as World Investigation Service to becoming one of Canada’s leading private security firms, our mission has always been clear: to safeguard communities, protect assets, and deliver unparalleled security solutions.” Under the leadership of Darcy Kernaghan, Securiguard experienced notable shifts, particularly in 1997 when it assumed responsibilities of securing the primary security line at the Vancouver International Airport, previously managed by the RCMP. This milestone was a significant turning point, solidifying Securiguard’s reputation for handling high-level security operations. The success of this endeavour prompted other airport authorities across the nation to adopt this innovative model.
