A few days before this issue went live, a video of a BBC interview being crashed by two young children went
viral. Robert Kelly from the Department of Political Science at Pusan National University in South Korea was
being interviewed from his home office about souring relations between North and South Korea, but no one
remembers that. What was memorable was the look on Kelly’s face as he attempted to gently clothesline
the toddler, and the woman who slid into the room, Kramer-style, frantically hauled the kids back out of the
room and did an out-of-water butterfly stroke up to close the door—on live TV.
Who couldn’t relate? In a world where business never sleeps, people work when they can, where they
can, so being able to roll with the punches, as Kelly eventually did, is par for the course. This month alone,
Business Elite Canada has conducted interviews with our profiled companies from the road, home offices,
corporate headquarters, and, in the case of Chrono Aviation, possibly a chartered plane. The reason the
companies featured in these pages are at the top of their game is because the people behind them do what
it takes, where it takes, to get the job done.
We are proud to bring you their stories: the incredible push for infrastructure by the Penticton Indian Band
Development Corporation that has opened up development in the Okanagan region, including Skaha Hills,
Penticton’s $250 million master planned community; the fastest-growing company in Quebec’s aviation
history, Chrono Aviation; the 40th anniversary of Johnston Davidson Architecture, leading design for Fire
Halls, and more.
Finally, Ag-West Bio, Saskatchewan’s bioscience industry association, is shining the spotlight on Canada’s
world-class agriculture and bioscience industry. Perhaps because it is a fragmented industry (meaning
there are many offshoots, from bioproducts, to digital technologies, animal welfare and food security), ag-
riculture and agri-food industry doesn’t often get the recognition it deserves for providing one out of every
eight jobs to Canadians and generating on average over $100 billion in annual sales. Our feature on Ag-West
Bio covers why Saskatchewan is at the centre of this economic action.
